Hello, and welcome.

I'm Caroline Vos, an artist based in Cape Town, South Africa.

For more than twenty-five years I have worked as a visual storyteller, creating artwork for film and animation projects seen by audiences around the world. Throughout that time I have had the privilege of helping bring other people's stories to life. This collection of paintings is different. It is an opportunity to share my own.

My work is inspired by dreams, longing, mystery, and the search for meaning. I am drawn to places that feel suspended between memory and imagination—worlds that seem familiar, yet just beyond reach. Many of my paintings begin with a feeling rather than a narrative: a fragment of a dream, a forgotten memory, a sense of wonder, or a question that refuses to let go.

As a child, I was fascinated by the possibility that magical worlds might exist just beyond the edge of the everyday. In many ways, I am still searching for them. Through my paintings, I hope to reconnect with that feeling and to create images that invite others to do the same.

I believe that art should bring life to a space. The paintings we choose to live with become companions of a sort, revealing different stories and meanings over time. My hope is that each piece continues to spark curiosity, conversation, and discovery long after it finds a home.

Above all, I value honesty. I have no interest in pretending to be someone I am not. The things that inspire me are often strange, beautiful, mysterious, and a little unconventional. I believe those qualities are worth celebrating. The world is richer when we embrace the parts of ourselves that don't quite fit neatly into place.
